Fish Swim, Birds Fly
Gen 1:20-23 And God said, Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures; and let birds fly over the earth on the face of the expanse of the heavens. 21And God created great sea-animals, and every living soul that creeps with which the waters swarmed after their kind; and every winged fowl after its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters of the seas and let the fowl multiply in the earth. 23And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
On the fifth day of Creation Week, the earth was ready to support animal life. God had made water, soil, air, and plants and fruits for food. He had also created the sun to give light and warmth. Now God created Earth‘s first inhabitants—the animals that live in the sea and those that fly in the air. Once again, He simply commanded them all to come into being, and they did! Fish and great sea creatures would include Whales and Plesiosaurs – water dinosaurs. Fish take in oxygen through their gills. Whales have to surface from time to time, being mammals, they have lungs and need to take in air to receive their oxygen. Water dinosaurs too had to take in air in order to breathe. Flying creatures included birds, insects and bat (which was a mammal and had a bone structure covered with skin). Flight feathers are remarkable features. When a bird raises its wing, the feathers move apart to let the air through and reduce resistance. But on the downstroke the feathers close completely, thus greatly improving lift. Also, a bird can vary the shape of its wings for more efficient take-off, flapping, gliding and landing. Birds have light bones to help
17 them fly and specially designed lungs to take much oxygen quickly while flying. They will produce after their kind. One cannot become the other. People who believe Evolution think after many million years one animal can turn into another. But there are no intermediate fossil forms proving such evolutionary change.People who don‘t believe in a Creator have no explanation for the remarkable design features of feathers. Most of them claim that a reptile‘s scales changed into feathers. But no fossil showing a transition from scale to feather has ever been found.
